My recipe (小黄私房菜)

Steam prawns with minced garlic (serves 4)

This is probably one of the favourite dishes with the family and it is also very easy to prepare.  For those who loves seafood such as prawns, you should not miss this recipe.


  1. 12 tiger prawns: trim the legs, gills and antenna
  2. A packed of minced garlic
  3. A bottle of “hua tiao chiew”
  4. Sea salt
  5. Chinese parsley (optional)


  1. Wash and let dry on top of a few pieces of kitchen roll
  2. Spread minced garlic evenly on the plate
  3. Place the dry prawns nicely on the plate
  4. Spread another layer of minced garlic on the prawns
  5. Sprinkle doses of “hua tiao chiew” over the prawns
  6. Sprinkle sea salt over the prawns
  7. Heat a wok of water, in level with a stand in the centre
  8. When the water boils, steam the prawns for 10 minutes
  9. Garnishes of Chinese parsley is optional
